I want to make a difference

As is par for the course with quarter-life crises (—who knows if it’s quarter or half, really), I often think hard about what I truly want in life. It isn’t much of an answer, but recently I’ve become sure that finding meaning in work is a prerequisite to my finding happiness in life: whatever it is I do, I want to make a difference (ideally big, but however small); to leave things better than when I found them.

To do that, I need to be useful. For now, that means honing my skills across the facets of marketing, whether digital and traditional, strategic or operational, creative or technical. While I can't claim to be a Level-5000 master in any particular facet right now, that is very much the goal as I grow, and I believe there's value in broad exposure and expertise: I have no qualms about bao-ga-liao (that's Hokkien for covering everything) roles in small teams. That sense of satisfaction? Priceless.

Anyway, continue scrolling for a glimpse into my journey. Thanks for stopping by!

PASSION PROJECTS

I indulge in passion projects often. My trusty MacBook Pro is one of my very best friends, and I've been playing with Photoshop and Illustrator from 12 years old, designing graphics for fan clubs and internet forums. (Fun fact: I moderated my first Jay Chou forum at 11, and fifteen years later, I'm the designer for another with 300k members. Also, Jay Chou thinks I'm smart.) I'm also the designer for Hyun Bin's Taiwan Fan Club!
For Hyun Bin's 39th Birthday (0925), the Fan Club launched five global projects, including a fundraiser to donate 925kgs of rice to charities across Taiwan. Find out more!
This doesn't need an explanation, does it? I'm on a mission to collect life advice from the Avengers (Bucky and Loki are heroes, don't @ me). It's going well.
Tableau is fun. I think this is among my favourite assignments yet: Investigating the characteristics of trending videos on YouTube.
At the risk of sounding cray, I created this website in 2017 to well, celebrate and commemorate my love for Jay Chou. Still not sure if I should be sharing this.

    HIGHLIGHT REEL

Truth be told, this section was originally (untruthfully) (mis)titled "Slice of Life" -- which, fortunately or unfortunately, is a gross misrepresentation of everyday life as 90% of us know it. Buuut this is the age of social media, so... I'm on Instagram @icecreammilktea.
